Rachel McCarroll commits to Dartmouth!

Updated: Mar 25, 2021

2021 Rachel McCarroll- 18Gold Gron RHP/3B describes her path to committing to Dartmouth... I have been involved in athletics my entire life, but softball has been my favorite ever since I started when I was four years old. I knew I wanted to find a college that could offer an excellent education, social experience, and the opportunity to play competitive collegiate softball. I visited some amazing schools, but something felt right about Dartmouth. Along with the beautiful campus and strong academic reputation, I found that Dartmouth values providing their student-athletes with a sense of community in their rural college town. In a zoom conversation I had with some of the softball players, they shared how Dartmouth’s softball program pushed them to be better players and better people by allowing them to have the academic, athletic, and social college experience they had always wanted. I was also impressed by how close their team was and how eager the head coach, a former pitcher herself, was to work with each girl individually to help them reach their personal goals and make the team stronger overall. It became clear to me that Dartmouth was the school I had been looking for and where I could see myself continuing my academic and athletic journey for the next four years. I plan to study biology and physiology in hopes to pursue a career in the medical field and I couldn’t be more excited to represent Dartmouth on the softball field. Go big green!
