Ashley Donaldson is a Gaucho!
UC Santa Barbara will be the new home of Ashley Donaldson after she graduates in 2020. Ashley (Sting 16u) verbally committed during her visit last weekend. She will join Sting 2019 Korie Thomas in the Blue and Gold. Ashley had this to say about UCSB and how she got there:
"I am super excited to not only attend a premier academic university, but to also get the privilege of playing the sport I love. When I was playing rec. ball as a youngster, this opportunity was only a dream! Now I will actually get to live it! I am so thankful for all of the excellent coaching that I have received throughout my playing days, and I am honored and proud to be with the San Jose Sting organization. Playing for the Sting is THE best preparation for college softball.
The UCSB campus has so much special character. Every time I am there, I get such a good vibe from the students. The students there are driven and strive for success and that’s what I want to be around for my 4 years attending this college. The coaching staff is amazing and they care about each athlete and their well being.
I had offers and interest from Utah State, DePaul, Kansas, West Point, and Cal Poly.
Any tips I have for my teammates going through the recruiting process are to trust in the process and let it work out for your best interests. Also, don’t put too much pressure on yourself. You want to showcase your best skills and show them the type of person and athlete you are! Keep it simple! The best part about the process is ending up committing to the school YOU want to go to!
Always believe in yourself and continue to have that drive and passion for the game. That is the key!"
Like the Sting, UCSB certainly believes in you too Ashley. Congratulations!
